Kawasaki announce plans for 2010 AMCA Kawasaki Masters Championship

After a stunning season of racing this year, Kawasaki Motors UK has announced their support for a 2010 racing series based around the popular KX250F machine.

With huge interest generated in the 2009 series – and an oversubscribed field of riders eager to take part – applications are now being processed for the 2010 Kawasaki Masters Championship by the AMCA.

Designed to nurture emerging young talent in the MX2 class, the 2009 Championship attracted a strong field and created exciting and close racing. Ultimately won by Paul Smith, the feedback from riders and spectators alike was overwhelmingly positive.

Now, for 2010, Kawasaki Motors UK has enhanced the ultimate prize. For first place, the winner will be able to ride a KX250F for the entire 2011 season courtesy of Kawasaki. And, in addition, will have a parts budget for genuine Kawasaki spares worth £2000 at retail cost.

Commenting for the AMCA, Ken Winstanley was happy to see the popular Championship repeated saying: “This year’s Championship had a waiting list of riders almost as soon as we announced it, and it looks like the 2010 one will be the same. It’s just what we need, a Championship focussed on growing young talent. With the top three riders from this year not eligible to take part again, the scene is now set for the next layer of riding talent to shine through”.

Ross Burridge, Team Green Co-ordinator for Kawasaki Motors UK shares Winstanley’s enthusiasm for the unique, one make MX2 series: “We had no idea how successful the inaugural year was going to be. With podium places changing constantly, there was a real prospect of success for so many riders in every race. And with the KX250Fs being so reliable and consistent, it was a genuine measure of riding talent as well as machine performance.”

anyone thinking of this series next year?
